Sisters, Oregon, is known for its amazing climate, picturesque scenery, and abundance of outdoor activities throughout the year. Here’s a month-by-month guide to what you can expect in terms of weather and things to do.

January - February

These are the coldest months, with average highs around 39–43°F and lows around 20–23°F. Snowfall is common, with January receiving up to 10 inches and February slightly less. Expect about 9–10 days of precipitation each month. Keep in mind at higher elevations you can see much more snowfall!

All of that great snow makes for some outside fun! Winter sports enthusiasts can enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and skiing/snowboarding at nearby spots like Hoodoo Ski Area, as well as snowmobiling. This season is also perfect for cozy evenings by the fire in one of our amazing vacation rentals.

March - April

Temperatures gradually rise, with highs in March around the mid-40’s°F and reaching upper 50’s by April. Nights remain chilly, with lows between 25–30°F. Snowfall tapers off, and you’ll see occasional rain as spring begins in the mountains.
This is a great time for birdwatching and exploring the scenic trails as the landscape starts to bloom. Try hiking along the Peterson Ridge Trail for stunning views.

May - June

Spring transitions into early summer, with highs climbing to 65°F in May and 73°F in June. Rainfall is minimal, making it ideal for outdoor activities.
Late spring and early summer are perfect for fly fishing in the Metolius River and biking the McKenzie Pass Scenic Bikeway. The Sisters Farmers Market opens in June, offering local produce and crafts.

July - August

The summer months are warm and dry, with average highs around 83–85°F and lows in the mid-40s. Rain is rare, and sunshine is abundant, so it’s the perfect time to explore the surrounding area.

These are the best months for hiking and camping in the Deschutes National Forest. Don't miss the annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show in July, which brings vibrant artistry and community spirit to town.

September - October

Fall brings cooler temperatures, with highs dropping from 75°F in September to 59°F by October. Nights are crisp, averaging 30–35°F. Rain begins to pick up slightly, but the weather remains mostly clear.
Fall foliage adds an amazing golden touch to hikes and drives. If you’ve never seen the aspens and their yellow/golden hues, then this is the perfect time to take them in. The Sisters Folk Festival in September is a highlight for music lovers, while October is great for scenic drives and pumpkin picking.

November - December

As winter approaches, highs drop to the low 40’s and upper 30’s, and lows hover around 22–25°F. Snow begins to return, especially in December, with an average of around 9 inches.
These months are ideal for enjoying holiday festivities in Sisters and nearby Bend. Head to Hoodoo Ski Area for early-season skiing or explore downtown Sisters’ quaint shops and eateries.
